Our shop is over in the Ibex Market in Manali. It’s a place where a lot of locals and tourists mingle to find stuff for their trips. Chamunda Tour & Travels is tucked in there among the other shops. We aren't a huge agency with dozens of staff. It’s just a few of us who know the area well. The market is always a bit noisy, and there is always something going on right outside the door. We spend a lot of time answering questions about how long it takes to get to different places or what the best time to leave is. We keep a lot of our notes on scraps of paper and the walls have a few old calendars and maps pinned up. It’s a practical place for people who just want to get their travel sorted out. We don’t do the whole big sales pitch thing. If we can find a car for you, we will. If everything is booked up because of a festival or a holiday, we will just say so. It’s better to be straight with people. Usually, someone is here by ten and we stay until the market starts to quiet down in the evening. It’s a good spot to be in because you see everyone passing through. We just keep things moving and try to help people enjoy the mountains. Some days are long, but that's just part of being in the travel business here. (257 words)
