Out in Kambeeranapalli at Door No. 4/539, that’s where you’ll find us. We are a group of farmers who mostly grow mint and tomatoes. Shoolagiri is known for this stuff, and we figured it was better to work as a collective than trying to do everything alone. It gets busy during harvest time. The smell of mint is everywhere, which is nice, but the work is tiring. Tomatoes are a different story; they can be tricky if the market fluctuates or the bugs get to them. We spend a lot of our time just talking about the soil and the water. It’s not a corporate setup at all. We sit around, drink tea, and figure out who is planting what this season. Our name is long, Shoolagiri Mint & Tomato Collective Farming Farmer Producer Company Limited, but we're just neighbors really. Some of us have been farming this land for decades. We don't have fancy brochures. If you want to know what we do, you just have to look at the crates of red tomatoes and the bundles of mint leaves. It’s honest work. Sometimes things go wrong, like a pump breaking or the heat getting too intense for the plants. We just deal with it as it comes. It's about getting the produce out and making sure everyone gets a fair shake. It's a simple life out here in Kambeeranapalli, and we like it that way.
