Paiyur Farmer Producer Company Limited

Over in Nadu Paiyur Village, right in the Krishnagiri area, you’ll find our group. We go by Paiyur Farmer Producer Company Limited. Our main spot is at No. 864, which is just a simple place where we gather. Most of us have lived in this village our whole lives. We know these fields better than we know anything else. The idea behind our group was just to help each other get better seeds and maybe get a better deal when it’s time to sell the harvest. It gets really hot here, and sometimes the water situation is a real headache. We spend a lot of time worrying about the monsoon. When you walk through the village, you’ll see our homes and the small plots we work. It’s not like those big industrial farms you see on TV. Everything is done by hand or with small tractors. We talk to each other over the fences or at the local tea shop about what’s working and what isn't. It’s a community effort, really. Some of the younger folks are moving to the city, but those of us left are committed to this land. We don't have much in the way of a front office, so if you're looking for us, you usually have to ask around the post office. We’re just trying to keep the farming tradition alive in Paiyur without going broke. It’s a struggle sometimes, but it’s our life and we wouldn't know what else to do.
