We are situated right here in Pookode, not too far from the Lakkidi Post Office. It is a very green part of Wayanad, which makes it a nice place for the animals. Most of the time, we are busy with the cows and goats or working in the labs. The students are always around, trying to learn the ropes of veterinary science. It is not a quiet place, especially when the clinic is full of local farmers bringing in their livestock. We deal with the rain a lot here; it pours down and everything gets muddy, but the work doesn't stop. We have our offices and the lecture halls, but most of the real action happens out in the sheds or the hospital area. People know us as the main spot for animal care in this district. Sometimes things get a bit chaotic when a lot of cases come in at once. We just handle it as best we can. It is a practical environment, nothing too flashy. You might see a group of students huddled over a microscope or someone out back checking on the poultry. The canteen is usually where everyone gathers to escape the damp weather and grab a quick tea. Life here is tied to the animals and the hills. We've been part of the Pookode landscape for years now, just doing our daily tasks and keeping the place running for the next generation of vets.
