Our group, Vembanadu Coastal Farmers Producercompany Limited, is located right near Vechoor. We operate out of the Thazhappaya Vyvasaya Building, which is near the Panayath Office. It’s a local spot that most people in the area know. Being a producer company means we’re basically a bunch of farmers working together. We try to pool our resources because it’s easier than trying to do everything alone. The building we’re in isn’t fancy, but it serves our purpose just fine. We spend a lot of our time discussing crops, prices, and the weather. Since we’re near the coast, we have to deal with certain challenges that inland farmers don’t. The salt air and the wind can be tough on some plants. We’ve learned how to manage it over the years. It’s a lot of trial and error, to be honest. We aren’t experts with degrees; we’re just people who have spent their lives on the land. We don't have a marketing department or anyone to write glossy brochures. We just talk to each other and get the work done. Sometimes the meetings at the Thazhappaya Vyvasaya Building go on for a long time, especially when there’s a problem to solve. We just keep at it until we find a way through. It’s a simple way of working, but it’s what we know. We’re glad to be part of the community here near Vechoor. It’s our home and where our work is.
