Tessa Flora Farms

Tessa Flora Farms is based out in Koovappally, near Kanjirappally. It is a beautiful, hilly area where the air is usually fresh and the soil is perfect for growing. We spend most of our time out in the fields or in the greenhouses rather than sitting behind a desk. Flora and plants are a full-time job because they do not stop growing just because it is the weekend. Our small office in Koovappally is mostly just for taking orders and keeping the accounts straight. It is usually cluttered with seed packets and gardening gloves. We have a small group of people who help us out, and most of them have been with us since we started. Kanjirappally weather can be a bit unpredictable, so we are always checking the clouds. We don't have a marketing department or a polished website. We just grow things and sell them to people who appreciate plants. Sometimes a crop doesn't do as well as we hoped, and that is just the risk you take with farming. We do not use a lot of fancy terminology; we just talk about what is blooming and what needs more water. It is a quiet life, mostly, though it involves a lot of heavy lifting and getting our hands dirty. We wouldn't want to be doing anything else, honestly. Being surrounded by greenery every day is worth all the hard work we put into it here in the hills.
