Down in Poovathusseryparakkadavu, things move at their own pace. Parakkadavu Farmer Producer Company Limited is our way of keeping the local farming going. We aren't doing anything revolutionary, just getting together to handle the business side of things so the individual farmers can focus on their crops. The location is right in the heart of where we all work. You’ll find us talking about the latest harvest or trying to figure out the best way to move our produce. It’s a lot of manual work and long hours outdoors. We don't have fancy suits or big boardrooms. Most of our meetings happen standing up near a tractor or inside the small workspace we have. The weather is our biggest boss, and we just do our best to follow what it tells us. Some weeks are nothing but mud and rain, while others are dry and dusty. We’ve all been doing this for a long time, so we don't get too worked up when things go wrong. We just fix it and keep going. Being part of this company means we have a bit more security than we did when we were all working separately. It's just a group of neighbors trying to make sure the farms in Poovathussery keep producing like they always have. It’s a lot of hard work, but it’s what we know best and we don't plan on changing it.
