Kanjirapally Fruits Producer Company Limited sits right across from the Dharma Shastha Temple in Erumely. You can find us in the Chempakathumkal Building, at number 20/957. It is a very busy spot because of the temple nearby, especially during the pilgrimage season when the streets are full of people. We deal with fruits, so there is always a smell of something sweet or ripening in the air around the office. The floors are often covered with wooden crates and plastic bins that we use for sorting. We are not fancy people. We are just local folks from Kottayam who know a lot about the fruit business. The building is a bit old but it stays cool enough for the produce we keep inside. Erumely is a good place to be based because so many people pass through every single day. Our morning starts when the trucks arrive with the fresh pickings from the local farms. We spend a lot of time sorting through things and making sure everything is where it should be. It gets quite loud sometimes with the shouting and the moving of heavy boxes back and forth. We do not have a receptionist or a fancy lobby area. If you come in, you just find one of us standing near the stacks or working at a desk. We use simple tools and keep track of everything in thick ledgers. It is hard work on the back, but it is what we know.
