Shri Nath Papad Wala

Shri Nath Papad Wala is located right in the middle of Purani Sabji Mandi. The smell of spices is always heavy around here. We spend most of our time sorting through lentils and making sure the dough for the papad is just right before it gets rolled out. It is a lot of manual work and our hands usually have some flour on them. People know us for the different kinds of papad we keep in the big glass jars. Some are spicy and some are plain, but they all go through the same process in the back. The market is always crowded, especially in the early mornings when the vegetable sellers are setting up. We have been in this spot for a long time. It is not a big store, just enough space for the counters and the storage bins. Customers come by after they finish their vegetable shopping to pick up a packet or two for dinner. Sometimes the weather makes it hard to dry everything properly, so we have to watch the sky. We don't have fancy packaging or big posters. It is just the papad and us. My father started this and now we just keep it going the same way he did. We talk to the neighbors and share tea while waiting for the next person to walk in. It is a quiet life inside the shop even if the mandi outside is loud and busy throughout the whole day.
