Shanti Food Co.

Small Scale Ind. Area is a busy place to be every day. We are located at 7-A/1. Every morning starts very early here because food stuff doesn't wait for anyone. It’s mostly about the machines running and making sure everything is done right. Shanti Food Co. is basically just a few of us making sure the bags get filled and the orders go out on time. It gets very noisy with the industrial fans going in the background. We aren't a huge factory, just a small unit doing our part. The air usually smells like whatever we are processing that day. Sometimes the delivery trucks have a hard time backing into the spot since it’s a tight squeeze in this area. We’ve had to learn how to move things around to make more space. It’s practical, hard work. No one wears suits here. We wear heavy boots and aprons. The walls are plain and white. We focus on the equipment. If a machine breaks, we fix it ourselves mostly. It’s a lot of heavy lifting and keeping track of different batches. The heat from the cookers can really get to you in the summer months. But we have our routine and we stick to it. We've been in this spot for a bit. It’s a good location for getting stuff on the road quickly. People around here know us for being steady and showing up. We just show up and do the job till it's finished for the day. There is always a stack of empty pallets near the door.
