Meena Tent House

Meena Tent House has been operating out of Gumanpura for quite some time now. Gumanpura is a lively part of town, so there is always something happening around us. Our work involves a lot of heavy material, mostly large sheets of cloth, iron pipes, and stacks of plastic chairs. When someone has a function, they come to us, and we figure out what they need from our storage. It’s a lot of physical labor, dragging the bundles out and making sure everything is clean enough to be used. The shop isn't much to look at, just a place where we keep our inventory and talk to people about their dates. We spend a lot of time on the phone or talking to the laborers who help set up the structures. During the peak season, things can get a little disorganized because everything is moving out and coming back in so quickly. We just try to keep track of it all in our ledger. Gumanpura can be quite dusty, and that affects the fabrics, so we have to spend time shaking them out and folding them properly. It’s a basic business. We don't have any high-tech systems. We just rely on our hands and our knowledge of how to put a tent up so it doesn't fall down. That’s how we spend our days here, just getting through the jobs as they come.
