M R Tent House

Rampura Bazar 12 167 is where we keep all the poles and the big rolls of fabric for M R Tent House. It’s a bit of a crowded area so moving the trucks in and out to load for a function is always a headache. We have these heavy iron pipes stacked up in the back that we use for the frames. Most of the time, the fabric needs a good wash because it gets dusty or stained after a wedding dinner. I spend a lot of time checking the ropes and making sure the light bulbs aren't broken before we pack them. Rampura Bazar is always full of people, so there is never a quiet moment near the shop. We have different colors of cloth, mostly reds and yellows, because that is what people ask for most. Sometimes the monsoon rains make everything difficult because the tents get heavy when they are wet. My workers and I have to dry them out in whatever open space we can find. It is a lot of physical work, lifting chairs and dragging carpets. We have been doing this for years and the shop is filled with old registers where we write down the dates for the bookings. Some pages are torn and the ink has faded. It is just a regular business, nothing too special about it, just trying to keep the equipment in okay shape for the next event and making sure the labor arrives on time.
