You can find Malav Readymade & General Store on the Main Road in Kaithun, Kota. It’s a combined shop because that’s what people in this area need. I sell clothes that are already made and also some general items like soap, snacks, and basic household stuff. It makes the shop a bit of a local meeting point. People stop by for a packet of biscuits and end up looking at a new shirt for their son. I’ve been running this place for several years now. The building is simple, with a tin roof that makes a lot of noise when it rains. I have a small table where I sit near the entrance so I can greet everyone. Most of my customers are people I’ve known for a long time. We talk about the crops and the local news while they shop. I don't have any staff, so I do everything myself. That means I have to be here early to sweep and late to lock up. The shelves are made of plain wood and I painted them myself a few years back. The paint is peeling a bit now, but it doesn't matter much. We don't have any fancy displays or expensive lighting. It is just a practical shop for the community. I like being my own boss, even if the work is hard and the hours are long. It’s a good life here in Kaithun.
