Devautsav Tent Bartan

Located on the road to Shivshakti Dharmshala in Keshavpura, Devautsav Tent Bartan is a place that stays very busy when the wedding season arrives. The shop is filled with stacks of stainless steel plates and big cooking pots that we call bartan. There are also long rolls of colorful cloth used for making tents. Everything is heavy and takes a lot of effort to move around. We spend a lot of time loading and unloading trucks near Shakti Nagar. The ground is often covered in bits of rope and scraps of fabric. When there is a big function nearby, the noise never stops. We have to keep track of every single spoon and glass, which is harder than it sounds. Sometimes things get dented or lost, and we just have to deal with it. The office area is just a small desk with a lot of notebooks for writing down dates. It is not a quiet job at all. We are always moving things from one place to another. During the hot months, the warehouse gets really stuffy, so we spend most of the time outside on the street. People from the Dharmshala road often stop by to ask if we have extra chairs for a small gathering at their house. We just do our work and try to keep things organized in the middle of all the chaos. It is a lot of physical labor but it keeps us going.
