Running a business in Kota is mostly about dealing with the heat and keeping the dust off the samples. We are set up at 6-E-37 in Vigyan Nagar Extension, which is a bit quieter than the main coaching center areas. Euro Ceramics Ltd. has been around this part of Rajasthan for a while now. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. It's just a few of us here answering the phone and showing people the different types of tiles we have in stock. The office is tucked away in a residential-looking block, so people sometimes miss the turn off the main road. We keep a lot of our stock in the back. It’s a lot of physical work, loading and unloading trucks when they arrive from the factory. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon, so we just sit outside for a bit. We know most of the builders in this area by their first names. We aren't doing anything revolutionary, just selling ceramics to folks who are putting together their homes. It’s steady work. We try to be fair with the prices because everyone knows everyone in this town. You won't find any glossy brochures here, just real people trying to run a shop. It gets busy during the wedding season when everyone wants to fix up their houses. That’s pretty much us. We stay here until late most evenings just to finish the paperwork and make sure everything is ready for the next morning.
