Kashra Bartan Bhandar

Kashra Bartan Bhandar is located near the Aerodrome Circle, which is a busy spot where several roads meet. Our shop is full of stainless steel, brass, and aluminum pots and pans. When you walk in, you hear the clinking sound of metal against metal. We stack the large buckets and tubs outside on the pavement to show people what we have in the shop. Inside, the shelves are heavy with plates, spoons, and pressure cookers. During the wedding season, it gets incredibly busy and we hardly have time to sit down. People come in looking for whole sets of utensils to give as gifts to family. We spend a lot of time polishing the brass items so they stay shiny for the customers. The shop has high ceilings but even then, it feels full because of how much we stock. There’s an old scale we use for items sold by weight and it’s been with us since the beginning. The floor is just plain stone and it gets cold in the winter months. We use a lot of old newspaper to wrap the glass and ceramic items so they don't break on the way home. It’s a noisy business, especially when we are unloading a new shipment from the truck. We don't use any fancy barcodes or scanners, we just know the price of everything by heart. It’s been this way for years and we don't see any reason to change it now.
