Our business is situated at B 37 in the Shopping Centre area of Bhamashah Mandi, Anantpura. It’s a long name for the company, but it’s just the family names put together. We’ve been operating out of this spot for a good while now. The building is functional, nothing special to look at, just a place to store goods and conduct trades. We handle a lot of bulk items, so there’s always a crew of guys moving things around. The trucks come in early and leave late. It can get pretty chaotic when three or four are trying to unload at the same time in that narrow space. We don't have a mission statement or anything like that. We just want to make sure the counts are right and the quality is what it should be. My cousins and I run the day-to-day operations. We eat our lunch together in the back office while listening to the noise of the mandi outside. It’s a loud life, but you get used to the sounds of the engines and the shouting. We deal with all sorts of people, from big buyers to small farmers. Everyone gets treated the same way here. We don't have a marketing budget because everyone in Anantpura already knows where we are. We just keep doing what we’ve been doing for years, hoping the market stays steady and the rains come on time.
