Chapati Foods

Talwandi has been our home for a while now at B 221. Being right near the Radha Krishan Temple at Chhawani Chouraha means there is always something going on outside. Mornings usually start with the sounds from the temple and people walking by. Our focus is just on making the food and getting things ready for whoever stops in. It’s not a big fancy place, just a kitchen where we work every day. Sometimes the intersection gets really crowded with traffic, and you can hear the horns honking all afternoon. Finding our spot is easy if you know where the temple is. We keep the doors open and just get on with the cooking. Mostly, it's regular people from the neighborhood who come by. Advertising isn't something we do. People just know we are here at the chouraha. The air usually smells like flour and fresh bread. We try to keep things simple and clean. Standing over the heat is a lot of work, but that is just how it is. A quiet minute outside doesn't happen often during lunch hours. Over the years, we have seen the area change a bit, but the temple stays the same. Having a steady place to work here in Talwandi is something we are glad for. Keeping busy with the food and seeing the same faces most days makes for a decent life. Every evening, we wash the counters before heading home for the night.
