You can find Bala Bodhini English Medium School over in Khb Colony at Plot No:1, right on Moka Road in the Gandhinagar area of Bellary. It’s a corner spot, so it’s easy to spot when you’re coming down the road. Bellary is known for its heat and the red dust that seems to get everywhere, especially when the wind picks up. We spend a lot of our time dusting the desks and windows to keep things clean for the students. We are a local school, run by local people who have been in this neighborhood for years. There’s nothing corporate about how we do things here. If a lightbulb goes out, one of us goes out to buy a new one and we fix it ourselves. The office is often full of stacks of old notebooks and registers because we still do a lot of things by hand. We don’t have any glossy advertisements or fancy posters about our values on the walls. It’s just a place where kids come to learn their ABCs and numbers. You can hear the teachers’ voices echoing through the halls during lessons. In the afternoon, the area around Plot No:1 gets quite busy with cycles and parents picking up their kids. It’s a humble setup, but it works for the families in Gandhinagar. We just focus on the daily routine and making sure the school stays open and functional every single day. We don't try to be anything but a local school.
