Pushpagiriyil Central School

Pushpagiriyil Central School is located in Edamon, which is down in the Kollam district. We are right there in Edaman, a place that most locals know well. The school isn't some corporate project; it’s just a place for the kids in this part of Kerala to get their schooling done. We have the typical green surroundings you'd expect in 691307. Every morning, the buses roll in and the place wakes up. It’s a lot of noise and energy until the first bell. We spend a good chunk of our day just managing the schedule and making sure everyone is where they should be. The staff here are mostly local people who have lived in Kollam for years. We aren't trying to be anything other than a school. There’s a lot of paperwork and a lot of chalk dust. Sometimes the monsoon rains make things a bit difficult, but we just keep the umbrellas ready and carry on. The classrooms are simple, and the desks are a bit worn from years of use. We don't have a big marketing budget or anything like that. We just rely on the fact that people in Edaman know us. It’s a community thing, really. When the final bell rings at the end of the day, the kids head out, and we start getting ready for the next morning. It’s a steady routine that we’ve stuck to for a long time. We have to sweep the leaves off the porch every morning, but that's just life here. We don't have a fancy canteen, just a simple lunch area.
