Vihara Welfare Foundation

Vihara Welfare Foundation is located on the ground floor at 63B/1H Swinhoe Lane. It is a narrow little lane, like many in this part of the city, and it can be a bit tricky to find if you aren’t looking for it. We like being on the ground floor because people can just walk in without having to deal with any stairs. The office is pretty simple, just a couple of rooms where we get things done. We started this because we saw a need in the neighborhood and figured we could be the ones to help out. It is not a big operation by any means. Usually, there are only two or three of us here at a time. We spend our days dealing with various welfare tasks and talking to the folks who live nearby. Swinhoe Lane has a lot of character, and we feel like we are a part of the local fabric now. We don’t use any complicated systems or fancy software. It is mostly just pen and paper and a lot of conversation. Sometimes it gets a bit noisy with the traffic outside, but that is just part of being in this area. We try to keep our doors open as much as possible for anyone who needs to stop by. We aren’t here to change the whole world, just to do some good right here in our own backyard. It is humble work, but it feels right to us.
