Vidyaniketan

Vidyaniketan sits at 19/25 Mall Road in Dum Dum. It is a busy spot, especially being so close to the Patel Nagar Puja Mandap. You can hear the bells and the music during the festival times quite clearly from our rooms. The address is on K B Sarani, which is always moving with people and rickshaws. We have a couple of rooms that we use. They aren't anything special, just plain walls and some sturdy furniture we bought years ago. Finding us is usually easy because of the landmarks, but the traffic on Mall Road can be a bit much in the evenings. We see a lot of people from the 700028 area passing by our door every single day. The building itself is an older one, with those thick walls that keep it a bit cooler than the street outside. I spend a lot of time cleaning the glass on the front cabinets. There are always papers to be sorted and books that need to be put back in their places. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who have been doing this for a long time. We know the neighbors and the shopkeepers nearby. If the internet goes down, we just wait for it to come back and work on other things. It is a very normal way to spend the day in Kolkata. We just open the doors and see who comes in to study.
