Victoria Guest House Hotel

Victoria Guest House Hotel is over on Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road, right in that busy stretch near Park Street. If you’ve spent any time in Kolkata, you know this area is always humming. We’re at 54/2, and the building has been here for ages. It’s got those high ceilings and the kind of hallways that have seen thousands of people pass through. We aren't a big chain hotel with shiny lobbies. Our front desk is just a simple wooden table where we keep the register. Most of the people who stay here are travelers looking for a place that doesn’t cost too much but is close to the action. We spend a lot of time answering questions about where to find the best street food or how to get to the metro. The traffic outside never really stops, so you hear the taxis and the horns all day long. It’s just the sound of the city. We do our own cleaning and try to keep the rooms as comfortable as we can. Sometimes the water pressure is a bit moody, or the lights flicker, but that’s just part of living in an old building in this part of town. We don't have fancy uniforms; we just wear what’s comfortable and get on with the work. It’s a busy life, but we like meeting the folks who come through.
