Our office is located at 34 Chittaranjan Avenue. We are in Room No. M8. It’s an old building, typical of this part of Kolkata, with high ceilings and those heavy wooden doors. Being on the M floor means we don’t have to wait for the lift too often, which is a plus during busy hours. We deal with steel, mostly wholesaling and distribution. It’s a lot of phone calls and checking stock levels throughout the day. The room is filled with ledgers and files because we still like to keep some things on paper. It feels more reliable that way to us. The street outside is always noisy with trams and buses, but you get used to it after a week or two of working here. We have a small team here. Most of us have been in the steel trade for years, so we know how things work. We don't use a lot of big words or have long-winded strategies. We just take orders, talk to our suppliers, and make sure the delivery trucks are on time. Sometimes the tea guy forgets our order, but he usually makes up for it the next day with something better. It’s a simple, honest way to make a living. We don't have a fancy website or a big marketing budget. Word of mouth usually does the trick for us around here.
