Uddipa Cultural Foundation

You can find Uddipa Cultural Foundation over at BL-1, 02-FR, Flat 02 on Kashi Nath Dutta Road. It’s a bit of a tight space but it works for what we do. We focus on cultural things, mostly around here. We’ve been at this for a while now. There’s always someone coming by to ask about local events or how to get involved with music or dance stuff. It’s not a big operation. We have a couple of rooms where we keep our files and meet people. The street outside can get pretty noisy during the day, so we usually keep the windows shut. We aren't doing this for fame or anything. It's just that there wasn't much going on for the culture side of things in this part of town, so we decided to start this foundation. We spend our afternoons planning and talking to local artists. Some days are slow, other days we have people dropping in every five minutes. We just take it as it comes. It's a nice way to spend the day, honestly. People in the building know us by now. We’re just regular folks trying to keep the local traditions alive without making a big fuss about it. We don't have a huge budget, so we just do what we can with what we’ve got. We also have some old books and instruments that people are free to use if they want to learn something new. It’s a simple setup but it works for us and our neighbors.
