Tiyasa Social Welfare Foundation

Tiyasa Social Welfare Foundation is based out of Shashivilla in the Panchabati area of Natagarh. We are in North 24 Parganas, West Bengal, zip code 700113. It’s a quiet residential neighborhood for the most part. The house we work out of has been there for years. It’s got that old-style feel to it. We don't have a big neon sign or anything like that. Just a small plate by the gate. Inside, it’s mostly just us sitting around a big table. We handle a lot of different things throughout the week. Sometimes it’s paperwork, other times it’s talking to folks from the neighborhood who drop by. We don't have a formal schedule most days. We show up when the sun is up and stay until the work is done. The garden outside gets a bit overgrown in the monsoon, but we try to keep the path clear. It’s a very local operation. Most of the people working here live just a few streets away. We know the shopkeepers and the rickshaw pullers in Natagarh. We aren't trying to be some massive organization. We just like having this space in Panchabati to get things done. It’s a bit dusty, and the fans squeak, but it’s our place. We’ve got a small kitchen where we make lunch together. It’s a bit like a second home for us. We usually keep the gate closed but anyone can knock if they need us.
