Tashi Delek Hotel

We are located on the first floor of an old building on Rabindra Sarani, right in the heart of Kolkata. Our hotel, Tashi Delek Hotel, isn't very large, just a handful of rooms like 35 and 36 where travelers can put their bags down and rest for the night. This part of the city is always loud and moving, so being up on the first floor helps a little bit with the noise from the street traffic and the markets below. We have been here for a long time, watching the shops change and the crowds grow on Chittaranjan Avenue. The rooms are basic, just the beds and the fans, which is what most people are looking for when they are just passing through for business or a short trip. It is a bit of a maze getting up here sometimes if you are not used to these old Kolkata buildings and narrow stairs. We spend our mornings cleaning the hallways and checking in people who arrived on the early morning trains. There is no big fancy reception desk here, just a small wooden table where we keep the registers. It gets really hot in the summer, so we try to keep the water bottles ready for everyone. The staff knows the local markets well, so we can tell people where to find things. It is a simple operation we run, just providing a place to sleep.
