Taj Bengal Hotel

The hotel is over on Belvedere Road in the Alipore area. It is a big place with lots of rooms and a very large lobby where people are always walking back and forth. We have a lot of plants around the property and some of the older staff members spend a lot of time looking after the garden areas. Alipore is a quiet part of town compared to others but we still stay busy. We have several different sections where people eat and the kitchen staff is always moving fast to keep up with orders. It takes a long time to walk from one end of the building to the other. We see a lot of people coming in for meetings or just staying the night while they travel. Some of us have been working here since we were young and we've seen the neighborhood change quite a bit over the years. The building itself is quite large and you notice it right away when you come through the gate. We spend our days checking in guests, fixing things that break, and making sure the floors are polished. It’s a lot of physical work and the shifts can be long especially when there is a big event happening in one of the halls. It is a lot of work. We just try to do our jobs and help people find their way around the building. It’s a bit like a small city inside these walls.
