Sundarban Mangrove Wild Resort

You can find us on the 1st floor of a building in Grant Lane. It’s right behind the Bata shop on Bentinck Street. It’s a bit of a squeeze getting up the stairs if you’re carrying bags. Sundarban Mangrove Wild Resort is the name on the brass plate. The hallway is narrow and usually smells like someone's cooking lunch. We have a few rooms where we handle the resort stuff. It’s not actually in the mangroves, obviously, that's just the name. This is the city office. I sit here most days answering the landline. The floor tiles are a bit chipped near the entrance. I’ve been meaning to ask the landlord to fix them, but he’s hard to catch. Bentinck Street is always crowded with people buying shoes. Grant Lane is a bit quieter but still has its share of noise. We have some photos of tigers and trees on the walls. They’re a bit dusty now. Sometimes the internet is slow and I have to restart the router three times. My colleague brings snacks in the afternoon. We mostly just talk to people about their trips. It’s a small operation. We don’t have a fancy lobby or anything like that. Just some chairs and a table with old magazines. It’s been our base for years. We just keep things running from this spot in Grant Lane. Sometimes the ceiling leaks when the rain is heavy, so we put a bucket in the corner. It's just how the building is. We leave the window open for some fresh air.
