Study Corner

If you know the Madhyamgram Chowmatha area, you know how loud and crowded it gets on Sodepur Road. That is exactly where we are. Our place, Study Corner, is right in the middle of all that chaos. You step off the busy street and come up the stairs, and suddenly it’s a bit quieter, though you can still hear the buses honking down below. We have a few rooms filled with books and old wooden tables where students gather every day. It’s a practical space. We don’t have any decorations on the walls, just some calendars and maybe a schedule tacked up with some tape. The floors are easy to clean, which is good because so many people walk in and out all day long. We start early and sometimes finish quite late, especially when exams are coming up and everyone is feeling a bit nervous. We try to keep a calm atmosphere, even when the power goes out and we have to use the emergency lights. It’s just part of life here. People know us as the place near the junction where they can get some serious work done. We don't offer anything fancy, just a seat and some help with the books. Most of the kids have been coming here for years, so we’ve seen them grow up from small children to young adults.
