If you’re looking for the Sohomormi Foundation, you’ll find us on Uttarpara Road in Khardah. We’re at number 177/49, right by electric pole number 02/0820. Using the pole as a landmark is usually easier than following the house numbers around here. Khardah is a busy place in North 24 Parganas, and our little office is right in the middle of it all. It’s a modest setup. We have a few desks and a lot of paper stacked up. We aren't the kind of place with a big sign or a fancy entrance. Most of the people who come to see us are from the neighborhood. We started this because we saw things that needed doing right here on our own street. It isn't always smooth sailing. Sometimes we have issues with the internet or the rain leaks in a little, but we deal with it as it comes. We don't have a mission statement hanging on the wall; we just know what needs to be done when we show up in the morning. It’s mostly about helping neighbors and making sure things are a little bit better than they were. We don't have any big corporate backers. It is just us, trying to be useful in Khardah. We take it one day at a time, talking to folks and seeing where we can lend a hand.
