Sikshangan

We are right on the Main Road in the Kestopur area of Kolkata. Being in Prafulla Kanan means there is always something going on outside our door. Sikshangan is easy to find if you are heading down the main stretch. The 700101 zip code is always buzzing with people and cars. Our building is a bit older and you can tell by the stairs. Inside we have set up a few classrooms for the local students. It’s nothing like those big institutes you see in the city center. We have mismatched chairs and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint but it doesn’t bother us. We focus on the books and the lessons. The noise from the Main Road is constant so we usually keep the windows shut to try and stay quiet. It gets a bit stuffy but we have the fans going full blast. We see a lot of students from the Kestopur neighborhood. They come in after their regular school is over. It’s a very local feel here and everyone knows each other. We don't have a website or fancy brochures to hand out. People just drop by and ask about classes. We keep a ledger to track everything. It’s a simple way of doing things but it has worked for us for years. We just try to provide a steady place for learning. The main road traffic can be a pain but it brings people to our door.
