Shila Devi Jhunjhunwala Charitable Foundation

We have been based at Fe-46 in Salt Lake Sector 3 for a while now. It is a quiet part of Kolkata, mostly houses and trees, which suits us just fine. The foundation carries the name of Shila Devi Jhunjhunwala. We are not a big operation with lots of staff or fancy offices. It is just a few of us here trying to do some good things for people who need it. Sometimes the gate squeaks when you come in, but we are usually around if someone stops by. Most of our work happens right here in the neighborhood or in the nearby blocks. People know us as the place on the corner near the park. We don't spend money on big signs or advertisements. That just seems like a waste. Instead, we talk to folks who live around Salt Lake and see where help is needed. It could be books for a student or just some food for a family having a hard month. Kolkata is a big city and it is easy for people to get lost in the shuffle. We try to make sure that does not happen to everyone. The office is small and usually has a few stacks of papers on the desks. It isn't very organized in a corporate way, but we know where everything is. We just want to keep things simple and honest. If you are in Sector 3, you might see us out and about.
