Shiksha Online Dot Com Llp is based right on British Indian Street. We are up on the 7th floor, in Room 701. It’s an old building, like most of the ones in this part of town. The elevator is sometimes a bit temperamental, so we end up waiting a lot. Being in the heart of the city means it's always loud outside with horns and people shouting. We don’t mind it much. Our room isn't very large, but it fits our computers and a small table for meetings. Most of our work happens online anyway, so as long as the router is working, we are fine. We spend hours staring at screens and typing. It's just a few of us here. We like being on the 7th floor because you can see the rooftops of the other buildings from the window. British Indian Street has a lot of history, but we are just focused on getting our tasks finished by the end of the day. We don't have fancy office furniture or a reception desk. It’s just a workspace. People who need to find us usually have to navigate the narrow corridors of the building first. It’s a bit of a maze. But we’ve been here long enough that it feels like our own little corner. We usually leave the windows open to let some air in, though the noise from the traffic below can be quite something during the afternoon rush. We just focus on our computers and try to ignore the heat when the air conditioning acts up. It's not a glamorous life, but it works for us.
