Getting up to the third floor of Ganga Apartment can be a bit of a workout if you’re not used to it. We are tucked away in Flat C3 and D3, right here in the Kalikapur area. It’s a residential building, so it feels more like a home than a stiff office. Being near the Santoshpur Jora Bridge makes it easy for people to find us, though the traffic near the bridge can be a real mess in the evenings. We do a lot of academic work and teaching stuff in these rooms. The walls are covered with notes and calendars. Since we are in an apartment, it’s a bit cramped with all the desks and books, but we make it work. Kolkata can get really humid, and these rooms sometimes get stuffy when we have a lot of people over. We usually have some tea or coffee going in the small kitchen area. It’s not a big corporate setup with a receptionist. Usually, you’ll just see one of us opening the door with a stack of papers in hand. We’ve been in this spot for a while and the neighbors are used to the constant coming and going. It feels good to be part of the local scene here in South Kolkata. Most of the time, we’re just focusing on the students or the materials we’re putting together. It’s a busy life at Pact Academics.
