Shankar Tutorial Home

Shankar Tutorial Home is located in Bandipur, Kolkata. It is a small place where we help local students with their school studies. We have been here for a while now, and most people in the neighborhood know us. The building isn't very big, but it has enough room for a few groups of kids to sit and study together. We have some wooden benches and a few chairs that we’ve gathered over the years. Some are a bit wobbly, but they do the job just fine. We start our sessions in the afternoon once the schools are out for the day. It gets pretty busy around 5 o'clock when everyone arrives at the same time. You can hear the sounds of the street from inside, but the students are used to it by now. We don't have any fancy computers or projectors here. It is just the teachers, the books, and the blackboard. Sometimes we run out of chalk and have to send someone to the shop at the corner to get more. The lighting is okay, though we added an extra tube light last month to make it better for the evening batches. We focus on getting the homework done and explaining the chapters from the textbooks. It is a simple routine that we follow day after day. We don’t really do any advertising. Most of our students come because their brothers or sisters studied here before. It is just a practical place for kids to get some extra help.
