Sevayan Social Welfare Foundation

We are located over at Ghosh Bagan Badra, right near LP 161/2/1 in North 24 Parganas. Most people around here just know us as the Sevayan Social Welfare Foundation folks. It is a bit of a busy spot but we manage okay. We started this whole thing because we saw things in the neighborhood that needed a hand. It isn't a big fancy operation with dozens of managers. Instead, it is just a few of us sitting in the office trying to figure out how to help out with local issues. Some days are quite slow and we just drink tea and talk to neighbors who drop by. Other days get really hectic when there is a lot of paperwork or people needing help with basic stuff. The address at 39 Ghosh Bagan can be a little tricky to find if you aren't from around West Bengal, but once you get here, the door is usually open. We don't have a big shiny sign or anything. We just focus on the day to day tasks. Sometimes the fans don't work right and it gets hot, but that's just how it goes. People come to us when they have trouble and we try to see what can be done without making a big fuss about it. It’s been a few years now and we are still just taking it one week at a time.
