Service Point

Service Point is tucked into Shop No. 30 in the Kalindi Vatika Market over in Laketown. It’s a lively little market and we’ve been part of it for quite some time now. The shop is small, so we have to be careful about where we put everything. Most of the day is spent looking at broken appliances or gadgets that people bring in from around the Laketown neighborhood. We have a couple of stools for customers, but they usually end up leaning against the counter while we talk. The market gets very busy on the weekends, so we try to finish the big repair jobs during the week when it’s a bit quieter. Sometimes the light in the back of the shop isn't great, so we use desk lamps to see the small parts we're working on. We don't have a receptionist or anything like that; you just walk in and talk to whoever is behind the desk. It’s an honest way to make a living, fixing things that people rely on every day. We see a lot of different problems, from simple broken plugs to things that have completely burnt out. If we can't fix it, we'll tell you straight. The market has its own rhythm, and we’ve become friends with the people running the shops next door. It’s a good community to be in, and we plan on staying at this spot for as long as we can.
