We run Satya Art Interior Designer And Decorator from the first floor of 44/1, Abinash Sansmal Lane. It’s in the Senbagan area of Kolkata, not too far from the Phoolbagan D C Office and the Kali Mandir. Being on the first floor is nice because we can look down at the street and see what’s going on without all the dust coming right inside. The lane is usually pretty narrow, so parking can be a bit of a headache for anyone visiting. We’ve lived and worked in this area for a long time, so we know the local rhythms. Our office isn’t anything spectacular to look at. It’s full of samples, tape measures, and half-finished drawings. We don’t have a cleaning crew or a fancy coffee machine; we just make do with what we have. Most days involve a lot of talking and sketching out ideas on whatever paper is handy. We aren’t interested in sounding like a big-shot company. We are just local people who know how to handle interiors and decorations. The nearby Kali Mandir is a good landmark for people trying to find us. We like the neighborhood feel of Senbagan. It feels like a real community where people actually know each other. We just keep our heads down, do our work, and try to stay out of trouble. It’s a quiet life here but it keeps us busy enough.
