Ruma Coaching Centre

We are located at 13 Rameshshar Shaw Road, right near the National Medical College and Hospital. Because of the hospital, there are always people moving around, ambulances going by, and a lot of noise throughout the day. Ruma Coaching Centre is tucked away in this busy part of Kolkata 700014. We have been here for a good amount of time, and the building has that old Kolkata feel to it. The rooms are filled with benches and the smell of old paper and ink from all the books. Students come here after their regular classes, often looking a bit tired with their heavy bags. We keep things informal because that is what feels right. If a student is late because of the traffic on Rameshshar Shaw Road, we understand because that road is almost always blocked with cars and rickshaws. We spend our evenings going over notes and helping with school work. It is a plain space without any air conditioning, just the ceiling fans spinning away. Sometimes the families of the patients from the hospital ask us for directions while we are standing outside the door. It is a very lived-in area with a lot of energy. We don't have a receptionist or any fancy systems. If you walk in, you will just see us working with a group of students. It is just a local place where we try to help kids get through their exams.
