You can find us on the 2nd floor, Room No. 205, at 161 Mahatma Gandhi Road. It’s an old building, the kind with high ceilings and heavy doors that have been painted over a few too many times. There is no elevator, so we get our exercise climbing up the stairs every morning with our bags and whatever else we need for the day. The office has a bit of an old-school feel to it, with wooden floors that creak when you walk over certain spots. We have several desks pushed together to make room for everyone. Most of our day is taken up with the administrative side of things, handling the books and making sure the business side stays on track. It gets a bit cramped when we have a lot of files out, but we’ve learned how to stay organized in a small space. The windows look out over MG Road, so there is always a view of the buses and people moving below. We keep a small electric stove in the corner for making tea, which is a bit of a ritual for us every afternoon. It’s not a high-tech corporate environment, just a practical room in an old part of town where we handle our daily business. We focus on the details of our work and try to keep the paperwork from getting too messy. It’s a simple way of working, but it’s what we know.
