Helping My Father'S Business

This is basically me helping out with my father's work here in Kolkata. We operate out of Flat G8 in the Sindhi Co-Operative Society on S.N. Roy Road. It’s a busy part of the city, especially during the commute hours. The flat is on the ground floor, so it’s convenient for getting things moved in and out without dealing with stairs. My father has been doing this for a long time, and I just stepped in to help manage the day-to-day stuff. We have papers and samples scattered around the place. It’s not the most organized office you’ll ever see, but we know where everything is. The society is usually quite lively with kids playing and people talking in the corridors. We drink a lot of chai throughout the day while we talk to suppliers and customers. Sometimes it feels like we’re always on the phone. Being in Kol-38, we’re right in the middle of things. We don't have any big corporate goals or anything, we just want to make sure the work gets done and the customers are happy with what they get. My father still handles the big decisions, and I do the typing and the heavy lifting. It’s a small family operation, nothing more and nothing less. We’ve lived in this area for years, so we know most of the people who live in the building too.
