Ramanujan Child Development Foundation

The Ramanujan Child Development Foundation is based in Flat Number B of the Sarojini Apartment. We’re located in the Kaikhali Sardarpara area of Kolkata. It’s a residential building, so it doesn't feel like a typical office environment. We like it that way because it’s a bit more relaxed and quiet than being in a big commercial block. When you come up to the flat, it’s just a normal doorway. Inside, we’ve converted the rooms into our working space. There are bookshelves filled with documents and a few desks where we sit with our laptops. We don't have a big staff, so it’s usually just a couple of us here making sure things are running. The apartment looks out over the local neighborhood, which is always full of life. It’s not a polished corporate space with glass partitions. It’s just a home-turned-office where we can focus on our tasks. Sometimes the doorbell rings and it’s just a delivery or a neighbor, which is part of the charm of being in a residential spot. We don’t use any fancy language to describe ourselves or what we do. We are just a group of people working out of a flat in Kaikhali. We try to keep things organized, but sometimes the paperwork piles up on the dining table we use for meetings. It’s a real, lived-in space where we do our best work every single day, right in the middle of Sardarpara.
