Our office is tucked away in Kolkata, specifically over with Surendra Lal Debnath. It’s located in the 700059 area, which is a part of West Bengal that stays pretty humid most of the year. The building isn't brand new, but it has some character to it. We spend most of our mornings going through files and talking on the phone. It’s a bit of a walk from the main transport hubs, so it stays a little quieter than the city center. You can usually hear the sound of the ceiling fans clicking as they spin. We have a few desks pushed together and some old wooden chairs that have been here since the start. Sometimes the mail takes a while to reach us, but we are used to that. The tea guy comes by twice a day, and that is usually the highlight of our afternoon. We deal with a lot of paperwork regarding different properties and travel plans. It’s mostly just us sitting around the table trying to get everything sorted before the weekend. Kolkata is a big, busy place, so having this little spot to focus is nice. We don’t have any fancy lobby or a receptionist in a suit. It’s just a practical work space where we handle the business side of things. Most of the people who come by are old friends or long-time associates who know exactly where to find us in this busy city.
