Nilu Coaching Centre

Nilu Coaching Centre is over at 23 Amrita Nagar, which is in the Belgharia area of Kolkata. It is a mostly residential street, so you will see lots of houses and just a few small local shops scattered around. We use a couple of rooms in the building for the actual coaching sessions. It is a place where the local kids come after their school day is over to get some extra help with their lessons. We do not have a big neon sign with flashing lights or anything like that. There is just a simple, painted board outside so people know they have the right house. Inside the rooms, it is mostly just rows of wooden benches and some whiteboards on the walls. We teach various subjects depending on what the students need help with at the time. Usually, we just follow the standard school syllabus that everyone else is using. The rooms can get a bit warm during the summer months, but we make sure the fans are always running. It becomes a very busy place in the evenings. You can always hear the sound of motorbikes passing by and people talking out on the street. We have been a part of Amrita Nagar for a good while now. The parents who live around here seem to trust us with their children’s lessons and exams. We do not do anything flashy or corporate. It is just about sitting down together and going through the chapters in the books. Sometimes we take quick tea breaks and talk about other things besides studies. It feels very much like a neighborhood spot where everyone is welcome. People often just walk over from their own homes nearby. We keep the doors open and the lights on until the very last batch of students finishes up. It is just a regular part of life here in this corner of Belgharia.
