Kolkata has these narrow lanes and Haladhar Burdhan Lane is definitely one of them. We are at number 28. It’s right in Bowbazar, so you can imagine the crowd and the old buildings all around us. Masuba Instruments Pvt Ltd has been operating out of here for some time. It’s a bit of a maze to get here if you aren’t used to the area, but it’s home for us. The stairs are a bit steep and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it works for what we do. We handle instruments and equipment, so things are usually stacked up in the corners. It’s not a shiny corporate showroom. It’s more like a place where people actually work with their hands and get grease on their shirts. The tea seller at the corner knows our order by heart now. Sometimes the rain makes the lane a bit messy, but that’s just Bowbazar for you. We keep the lights on and the doors open. We aren’t trying to be the biggest company in India, just a solid one here in Kolkata. People stop by, ask questions, and we try to help out with whatever they need. It's busy, it's loud, and it's quite cramped, but we manage. You get used to the rhythm of the street after a while. We stay busy with the tools and the orders, keeping things moving along as the days go by.
