Out here on Diamond Harbour Road, at number 627/1, things stay moving pretty fast. Opto Instruments has been operating from this building for quite some time now. You can hear the buses and taxis honking outside all day long. Inside, it’s a bit quieter, though we usually have some machines running in the background. Our work involves a lot of looking through small parts and making sure everything is aligned right. It’s the kind of job that requires some patience and a steady hand. The office isn't anything special to look at. We have old metal filing cabinets and wooden desks that have seen better days. There are always stacks of paper and blueprints lying around because we still prefer doing some things the old-fashioned way. Lunchtime is usually just the staff sitting together and sharing whatever we brought from home in their tiffins. We don't have a big marketing department or anyone to write fancy brochures for us. We just show up, do the technical work, and send the instruments out to whoever needs them. Sometimes a customer will come by and we’ll spend twenty minutes just chatting about the weather or the traffic on the road. It’s a very local way of doing things. We know our neighborhood well and we’ve seen it change over the years. Even as things get more modern around us, we mostly stay the same, just keeping our tools sharp and our eyes on the work we have to do.
