Mangalam Pragati Foundation

The Mangalam Pragati Foundation is way up on the tenth floor of the Birla Building. Our address is 9/1 R.N. Mukherjee Road. It is right in the heart of the business district, so it stays pretty busy around here from morning until evening. Even though we are in a big building, we keep things pretty simple inside our office. We don't have fancy decorations or anything like that. It is just a place for us to work on our foundation’s goals. Being on the tenth floor gives us a bit of a view, but mostly we are just looking at our files and talking on the phone. The elevators in the Birla Building can be slow during lunch hours, so we have to plan around that. We get a lot of mail delivered to the 9/1 address because so many offices are here. We just try to stay focused on what we need to do each day. It’s a practical location for us because it’s easy for people to reach us by bus or train. We don't spend money on big ads or anything. We just keep the lights on and do the work that needs doing. People who come to see us usually know why they are there, so we don’t need to explain ourselves too much. It’s just an honest office doing honest work in a very old and well-known part of Kolkata.
