Lokenath Foundation For A Better World is tucked away at 122F/3 on S.M Bose Road. We are right in the middle of Agarpara in the North Parganas. It’s a busy part of Kolkata, and the street outside is almost always full of people and rickshaws. Our office is a simple place where we gather to talk about what needs to happen in the community. It’s nothing fancy, just a room with a few tables and some fans that work most of the time. The humidity can be pretty rough during the monsoon, but we keep the windows open when we can. We started this because we saw things in our city that could be a little better. We don’t have a massive team or a big budget, so we focus on what we can actually do. Most of us grew up around here, so we know the local shops and the families. We don’t use any of that corporate talk you hear on the news. We just talk like normal people and try to solve problems as they come up. Sometimes the planning takes longer than we expect, and we end up sitting there until the sun goes down. People often stop by just to ask what we are up to or to share some news. It’s a nice way to spend the day, feeling like we are actually part of something real right here on S.M Bose Road.
