Locasa Sawnirwar Foundation

Our office is at 4D/11 Dharmatala Road in the Kasba area of Kolkata. We have been in this part of town for a while now. It is a busy neighborhood with lots of shops and houses all mixed together. We fit right in with the rest of the street. Our foundation is about helping people become more self-reliant. We do not use big words to describe it. We just think people should have the tools they need to look after themselves and their families. Sometimes that means teaching a new skill or helping someone start a tiny business. We do not have a big fancy office with glass walls or shiny floors. It is just a regular room with some old fans and plenty of paperwork. It gets a bit hot in the summer months, but we do not mind much. We are usually too busy to notice the temperature anyway. People from the neighborhood drop by quite a bit to see us. They know where we are in 700039. We do not do much advertising at all. Most people hear about us from their cousins or their friends. It is a slow way to grow, but it feels more real and honest to us. We are just a few people trying to make things a little easier for others. We do not have a big mission statement on the wall. We just have a to-do list.
